The North Naples Veterans Memorial Blvd. enlargement project is nearly finished.

Connie Deane, community liaison for the Collier County Department of Transportation, stated that “we needed to get this road expanded so there would be an access to that high school.”

The first phase of construction extends Veterans Memorial Boulevard to Aubrey Rogers High School, the newest high school in Collier County, according to a recent article by Tori Kinley of NBC2

This August, new students will be admitted to the school. Two traffic signals were also installed as a result of the road expansion, one at the intersection of Aubrey Rogers High School and the other at that of Veterans Memorial Elementary.

Veterans Memorial Boulevard will be extended to U.S. 41 during the second phase.

Deane explained that turning this road into an alternative East-West route will help relieve traffic on Immokalee Road and other East-West thoroughfares.

Phase 2’s design phase is scheduled to start in 2024. The project will not be finished in its entirety for a number of years.
