Collier County notifies of September’s water disinfection
The Collier County Water Division is informing the general public of a change in the drinking water disinfection procedure that will go into effect on September 1.
The county is going to temporarily alter the manner in which drinking water is disinfected. Up until September 29, free chlorine disinfectants will be available, according to a recent article by Kaitlyn Snook of Fox4
Residents may experience murky or discolored water during these adjustments, as well as a change in the taste and smell of their drinking water. Residents are encouraged to run the faucet until the water is clear, even if it is safe to drink.
Collier County does this every year to make sure the water quality is preserved.
Dialysis patients who make dialysate with a proportioning machine should speak with their doctor about how to adjust for the disinfectant change. To avoid any issues related to chlorine, customers who own fish tanks or aquatic animals should speak with an expert.
