Safety alert following lithium-ion battery fire in North Naples

The North Collier Fire Rescue District is bringing people’s attention to the dangers of improper lithium-ion battery use or storage.

This warning was issued following reports of a lithium battery explosion in North Naples on Tuesday evening, according to a recent article by NBC2 News.

North Collier Fire reports that the incident occurred on Fountain View Circle at approximately 6:20 p.m.

In addition to assisting others in leaving the building, residents utilized fire extinguishers to suppress the fire.

Nobody suffered any injuries.

According to the fire service, the flames did not affect any additional units.

When used or stored improperly, lithium-ion batteries can be hazardous.

Like the one that ended in an explosion at a cabinet firm in south Fort Myers, they can start fires.

Lithium batteries have also been known to start fires in e-bikes, hoverboards, electric scooters, and electric cars.

It has become necessary for firefighters around the nation to acquire new tactics in order to combat these kinds of flames.

It is advised that nothing that uses a lithium-ion battery be placed in front of your home’s exits.
