Roof collapse at Naples’ La Trattoria on 5th Ave injures 9.

According to Naples Fire Rescue, nine people were injured and seven were transported to local hospitals following a structural collapse at La Trattoria on 5th Avenue South in Naples around 6:44 p.m. Sunday.

The battalion chief requested that a Level 1 Mass Casualty Incident be deployed, according to a recent article by Elyse Chengery of NBC2.

The restaurant was evacuated. Fire and EMS crews inspected the building for any risks.

Ginanna Morris of Naples said, “We were going to come eat here, and I’m just glad we ended up doing other things before we came.”

According to Naples Fire Rescue, La Trattoria will close while an investigation and repairs are conducted.

Fire Rescue Chief Corey Adamski stated, “It’s not a typical occurrence, but it does happen every now and then. Unfortunately, given the number of people in the building at the time, we ended up with nine patients injured. That’s a lot.”

The department notes that no adjoining structures were impacted.
