President Donald Trump has endorsed Representative Byron Donalds in his bid for Florida governor.

President Donald Trump has once again made it clear who he supports for Florida’s next governor in 2026, as Gov. Ron DeSantis reaches the end of his term.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his backing for Congressman Byron Donalds, saying, “I am hearing that Highly Respected Congressman Byron Donalds is considering running for Governor of Florida, a State that I love, and WON BIG in 2016, 2020, and 2024.” Trump added that Donalds “would be a truly Great and Powerful Governor for Florida,” and assured that if he decides to run, he will have Trump’s “Complete and Total Endorsement.” Encouraging Donalds, Trump wrote, “RUN, BYRON, RUN!”
Reports from last month confirmed that Donalds had been discussing his gubernatorial ambitions with donors and key political figures in Florida.
Donalds isn’t the only Republican considering a run. Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson is also reportedly exploring a bid.
Additionally, speculation has been circulating for years that Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis might enter the race to succeed her husband. A recent poll suggests she would be a strong contender.
Donalds, who currently represents Florida’s 19th Congressional District in Southwest Florida, has been hinting at his interest in the governor’s race for some time. On Thursday, he posted on X, “Announcement coming soon!”
