North Naples Hospital will construct a new facility in collaboration with NCH

A new cutting-edge facility delivering outpatient and inpatient services will be built at NCH’s North Naples Campus after the holidays as a result of a partnership between NCH Healthcare System and New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery.

NCH and HSS announced the partnership on Friday, according to a recent article by WGCU.

For 13 years running, U.S. News & World Report and Newsweek have named HSS first nationally and first in the world for orthopedics, respectively.

The largest academic medical facility focused on musculoskeletal health and founded in 1863 is HSS. Patients from more than 100 nations and all 50 states have traveled to New York City for treatment at the HSS main site, including tens of thousands of Floridians.

HSS has been a top-ranked hospital for orthopedics and rheumatology for 31 years running and performs over 35,000 orthopedic surgical procedures each year. The orthopedic readmission and complication rates at HSS are among the lowest in the country, and infection rates are also among the lowest.

In order to bring musculoskeletal care to residents closer to home, the agreement calls for the construction of a cutting-edge facility that will offer outpatient and inpatient services, as well as a jointly owned and operated ambulatory surgery center, imaging, and rehabilitation services.

Construction on the two-year project is set to begin after the holidays and will take place on the site of the NCH North Naples Hospital.

Currently, HSS collaborates with just one other hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida. The center in Naples is expected to be larger than the current one on the east coast, according to plans.

According to Paul Hiltz, President & CEO of the NCH Healthcare System, “The NCH Healthcare System is in a period of transformational change to become an Advanced Community Healthcare System.” We are eager to start working with Hospital for Special Surgery because it will not only help us achieve that objective, but also make it possible for more of our neighbors who require orthopedic care to receive it locally, at NCH.”

As part of the agreement, HSS will send seasoned orthopedic surgeons to NCH to carry out a variety of orthopedic treatments using techniques that are now used in Naples as well as some that were previously only available in other locations.

According to HSS President and Chief Executive Louis A. Shapiro, “HSS has a responsibility and an opportunity to make the highest quality musculoskeletal care in the world more accessible to more people. We are happy to have found these in the NCH Healthcare System and Naples. This demands deliberate engagement with like-minded organizations in vibrant communities.”

Jay Baker, a Board Trustee at NCH Healthcare System who played a significant role in bringing HSS to Naples, said, “The NCH Healthcare System strives to ensure our community has access to world-class treatment, and this collaboration represents a huge step forward, not just with this mission but in advancing the field of orthopedic medicine as a whole. This is an exciting chance to broaden our influence and work with another industry titan to provide our patients with excellent services.”
