New Bayshore Drive Boardwalk to Transform East Naples with Scenic 17-Acre Walkway

Collier County is moving forward with the highly anticipated Bayshore Drive Boardwalk Project, a 17-acre pedestrian walkway set to enhance connectivity and outdoor recreation in East Naples. The $3.3 million project, funded by the Bayshore Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), will link Bayshore Drive, the Naples Arts District, and Sugden Regional Park, providing a scenic and accessible route for pedestrians.
This development will begin as a paved promenade featuring brick pavers and hardscape surfaces along Bayshore Drive. As it approaches the natural wetlands, it will transition into an elevated wooden boardwalk, ensuring an immersive experience while preserving the local environment. The project is expected to benefit both residents and businesses by increasing foot traffic and enhancing walkability in the area.
The initiative aligns with Collier County’s long-term vision to support sustainable infrastructure and promote outdoor recreation. With increasing numbers of pedestrians and cyclists in the community, the new boardwalk will provide a much-needed alternative to driving, offering direct access to Sugden Regional Park from nearby neighborhoods.
Local businesses in the Naples Arts District are also expected to see a positive impact, as the enhanced connectivity will encourage more visitors to explore cultural attractions, restaurants, and shops along the route.
The project, which has been in development for over a decade, is set for completion within the next 12 months. Once finished, it will provide residents and visitors with a safe, scenic, and eco-friendly alternative for navigating East Naples.
