NCH begins construction on a $130 million orthopedic center adjacent to North Hospital.
On Friday, representatives from NCH and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York celebrated the official opening of the collaborative orthopedic surgery facility, which was announced a year earlier.
Early 2025 is when the $130 million center is planned to open after two years of construction. NCH and HSS will own the orthopedic center together, according to a recent article by Liz Freeman of the Naples Daily News.
NCH North Hospital, located off Immokalee Road, and the now-demolished Bear’s Den Childcare Center are the locations.
“As NCH continues its journey to become an advanced community healthcare system, this groundbreaking marks an important milestone in our quest to bring world-class orthopedic care to our community,” NCH’s president and chief executive officer, Paul Hiltz, stated in a news release.
“We are excited to be working with HSS, the top orthopedics organization in the world, to provide our patients with this excellent caliber of care,” he stated.
Hiltz stated that NCH, the biggest hospital provider in Collier County, and HSS had been pursuing cooperation for the previous two years since the project was first announced last year.
Specialty hospital orthopedic doctors have been visiting Naples to teach their practice protocols, which will be implemented locally. A few crucial roles have been assigned.
Reputation of HSS
For the last 14 years running, U.S. News & World Report has recognized HSS as the top orthopedics program.
It was not immediately possible to obtain volume forecasts for the new center.
Both inpatient and outpatient services will be provided in the approximately 80,000-square-foot, three-story facility.
According to NCH, the outpatient surgery center will be located on the first floor, with pre- and post-operative rehabilitation services, imaging, and other services on the second and third floors, respectively.
There would be fifteen individual patient rooms available for use as guest rooms.
According to NCH, the specialized hospital will offer surgical care as well as research, educational initiatives, and clinical trials in Naples.
The ambulatory surgery center will form a board of directors, with representatives from the two hospitals serving on it.
