Naples teen dies after crash on Vineyards Boulevard

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a teenager from Naples passed away on Saturday when his Jeep drove off Vineyards Boulevard the night before and collided with some trees.

The collision occurred at Vineyards and Napa Boulevard in Collier County at 8:20 p.m. on Friday.

According to a press release from the FHP, the 16-year-old was traveling north on Vineyards Boulevard in a Jeep Cherokee. He had his seatbelt on, according to a recent article by Charles Runnells of Naples Daily News.

The Jeep left the path, crossed the median, and plunged into two trees. The driver, whose identity was withheld, was taken to a nearby hospital after suffering serious injuries. On Saturday, he was declared dead.

Investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
