Naples Shoe theft gets 4-year armed robbery sentence

One of two Naples teenagers who allegedly robbed a guy at gunpoint during a planned meeting to buy Air Jordans and Yeezys and posted about it on Instagram signed a plea deal Wednesday.

Patrick Cole Ochoa, 19, pled no contest to one count of robbery with a weapon before Collier Circuit Judge Elizabeth Krier. He was sentenced to four years in prison with 20 days credit for time served.

Alongside him was 20-year-old Anthony Zangrilli, according to a recent article by Tomas Rodriguez of Naples Daily News.

According to police, the seller advertised on Instagram a used pair of men’s Air Jordan 3 UNC shoes for $200 and a used pair of men’s Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 sneakers for $450. On July 16, the seller consented to meet the stranger Zangrilli at the parking lot of a nearby company on U.S. 41 East at approximately six o’clock in the evening.

Zangrilli showed up with Ochoa, according to police reports. When the vendor revealed the shoes, Zangrilli took out a firearm, aimed it at the seller’s face, and demanded the shoes. Detectives say Ochoa removed his shirt to reveal a black gun hidden in his waistband.

Deputies discovered the stolen sneakers and two loaded pistols in Zangrilli’s room at the Glades Motel, 3115 U.S. 41 E., a short distance from the crime scene.

Zangrilli is also charged with felony probation violation and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Due to an armed robbery and kidnapping in 2021, he is currently on probation.
