Naples Senior Couple Caught Selling Stolen Items Online
Richard, aged 81, and Gail Murtaugh, aged 77, from Naples have been apprehended for shoplifting and subsequently reselling the stolen items on eBay, according to a recent article by Marija of B103.9
As reported by Fox4, investigators observed the duo on camera over a span of two years, 2021 and 2022, pilfering a variety of items, including personal hygiene products, grooming supplies, nicotine products, teeth whitening items, and more.
After ensuring the goods were safely in their home, they would capture photos of the items and list them in their eBay store “dickandgail”. They seem to have a strong grasp of technology for older individuals, as they generated a significant profit of $175,621.31.
Ultimately, their series of offenses concluded when law enforcement conducted a search of their residence, discovering not only some of the stolen items but also images of the goods stored on the iPad. The duo of elderly con artists did admit their guilt and consented to relinquish the profits earned from the transactions. The date for their sentencing has not been established yet.
