Naples’ Everglades Golf Club sold to Orlando firm

Pulte Home Co. has transferred ownership of the Golf Club of the Everglades to Concert Golf Partners, a company based in the Orlando area that manages a portfolio of 35 courses throughout the United States.

The sale price remains undisclosed; however, Collier County records indicate that the property associated with the Naples club was sold for $17.15 million, according to a recent article by Louis Llovio of Business Observer.

The golf club spans 261 acres and is located at 8835 Vanderbilt Beach Road, nestled within Pulte’s Greyhawk community. The course was designed by Rees Jones Inc.

Pulte states that Concert is a “discerning purchaser” aligned with its “commitment to preserve the historical exclusivity of the club” and will collaborate with the surrounding community.

The Golf Club of the Everglades boasts a 7,352-yard, par 72 open links-style course that was established in 2000, complete with a members-only clubhouse, restaurant, and an expansive 8-acre practice facility. In contrast to the majority of golf courses, this club operates without tee times, enabling members to enjoy their game at their own pace.

Concert was established in 2011 and operates 35 golf clubs across 18 states, with nine located in Florida. It owns the Renaissance Golf Club in Fort Myers, the Carrollwood Country Club in Tampa, and the Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice, all located along the Gulf Coast.

A representative from the company stated that Concert’s approach seeks to preserve the traditions of the clubs it acquires while implementing improvements.

Pulte listed the Golf Club of the Everglades for sale at the beginning of this year.

In a marketing letter sent via email on March 19, Pulte outlined the guidelines for submitting bids on the club. The document included a comprehensive six-step outline detailing how the process would function.

Scott Brooks, the director of real estate at Pulte, urged all interested parties to submit their best and last offers in the letter. However, it stated that “besides the price and terms of the offer, attention will be paid to the specific group or company that we believe will serve as the best custodian for the preservation of” the club.

According to Concert, PulteGroup considered a number of investors before deciding that the Lake Mary company would be “the best successor to continue to provide its members with a high level of service and enhance the Golf Club of the Everglades” moving forward.
