IS HELP ON THE WAY FOR IMMOKALEE ROAD?

  • Immokalee Rd Pavement marking work

For Immokalee Rd, in the short term, we are remarking the existing exclusive westbound right turn lane to be through and right, which will add another westbound through lane between Valewood and I-75. The plans are completed, and it is estimated that the contractor will be completing the work this Spring.

  • Immokalee Road Traffic Signal Retiming and Coordination

To improve traffic flow our consultant is currently working on the retiming of the traffic signal system on Immokalee Rd from Collier Reserve Dr/Arthrex Blvd to Woodcrest Dr/Quarry Dr. a total of seventeen signalized intersections on Immokalee Rd. The project will also coordinate the signals on Collier Blvd from Immokalee Rd to Vanderbilt Beach Road 5 intersections. The consultant has been conducting counts, capacity analysis, and monitoring the traffic flow. Currently, we are working on programming the controllers and implementation.  We will be completing this same exercise out-of-season to better coordinate our signal timing both on and off season.

  • I-75 at Immokalee Road Interchange

At the January 23, 2024, Board meeting, County staff was authorized to begin discussions with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to advance the diverging diamond interchange improvements at I-75 and Immokalee Road to coincide with the Moving Florida Forward I-75 improvements.  To allow for the ultimate construction, a project development & environmental (PD&E) study is required.  The FDOT has advised that based on Collier County’s willingness to partner with them on this important improvement, they will begin the PD&E study which will pave the way for design and construction concurrent with the other project on I-75.  County and FDOT teams will continue to work diligently to bring back the necessary agreements and funding strategy for design and construction to have the improvement come to fruition.
