Florida has the best success in the US buying Powerball tickets.

Do you feel lucky?

Well, you should if you reside in Florida.

That’s because, according to data tracking website Slot Tracker, Florida has the highest luckiness rating in the nation when it comes to winning the Powerball jackpot. The website examined all national Powerball jackpot wins going back to 2003. A weighted average of the total dollar amount of Powerball prizes, the total number of Powerball winners overall, and the average winnings per winner determines the highest lottery luck score, according to a statement in a recent article by Mark Gordon of the Business Observer.

Florida edged out California and Missouri for the top rank, with 16 jackpot winners since 2003 and an average prize of more than $175 million. According to the survey, Florida has won $2.8 billion in Powerball jackpots in the last 20 years, which is more than twice as much as New York, the fifth-ranked state, has ever won.

Another Florida connection to Powerball is that, according to the Powerball website, drawings are broadcast live every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee.

Since 1992, 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands have sold Powerball tickets. The jackpot grows until it is won, and a ticket to play costs $2. By matching one of the nine methods to win, players receive a prize. According to the game’s website, the jackpot can be won by matching any combination of the red Powerball and all five white balls.

Unsurprisingly, there is a lot of money at risk in Powerball; according to Slot Tracker, Americans spent more than $105 billion on lottery tickets in 2022.
