Collier Road Progress Report: I-75 at SR 951

The I-75 at SR 951 Project began in 2023 and aims to reduce traffic delays and congestion. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is proposing enhancements for the I-75 intersection at State Road 951 on Collier Boulevard, which is currently under construction.

Crews are busily constructing bridge structures for a new bridge across Beck Boulevard, east of Collier Boulevard, which you may have seen on your commute, taking up space on either side of Collier Boulevard and causing lane closures. Motorists should proceed with caution and keep an eye out for workers and construction vehicles approaching and exiting the roadway, according to a recent article by Sophia Lowrie of Coastal Breeze News.

The SR 84 or Davis Boulevard eastbound direct access ramp to SR 951 is permanently closed, although the eastbound to southbound right turn at the crossing remains open. Lane widths for southbound Collier Boulevard will be lowered between Business Circle North and Business Circle South. Additionally, pedestrians will face sidewalk closures on Davis Boulevard west of and Collier Boulevard between Davis Boulevard and Business Circle North. Pedestrians can reach Collier Boulevard by taking Davis Boulevard to Market Street and then Business Circle South.

Daytime lane closures will take place on northbound Collier Boulevard between 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, from just south of Beck Boulevard to just south of the southbound I-75 onramp. The outer right turn lane between southbound SR 951 and westbound SR 84/Davis Boulevard will be closed, but drivers can still turn right from the remaining available lane. This closure is required for the installation of the force main and bridge foundation and will remain until the operation is done. It is recommended that you use additional caution when approaching and entering I-75. Currently, the project is planned to be completed in the spring of 2026.

The planned modifications include upgrading the southbound on- and off-ramps, as well as the northbound on-ramp connections to I-75’s major lanes. The southbound and northbound off-ramps will be altered to allow for the construction of single-lane loop ramps with 200-foot radius in the southwest and northeast. The loop ramp in the northeast will link to a direct flyover ramp on northbound Collier Boulevard, beginning south of the Davis Boulevard interchange. This single-lane flyover ramp will connect Beck Boulevard with a renovated southbound I-75 on-ramp.
