Cattle on the Move: Immokalee’s Historic Cattle Drive Showcases Ranching Roots

Picture a herd of cattle strolling through the heart of a town—this scene came to life at the 2025 Immokalee Cattle Drive and Jamboree! Fox 4’s Austin Schargorodski attended the event to explore how it celebrates the town’s deep-rooted ranching heritage.

Ranchers on horseback guided the cattle down Main Street toward Roberts Ranch, officially kicking off the festivities. For generations, cattle ranching has been a cornerstone of Immokalee’s history, dating back to Florida’s earliest settlers.

Moses Jumper, Jr. grew up in the industry, learning from his mother and grandmother—who once herded cattle into town with the help of her dogs to trade for supplies.

“We’ve been in the cattle business for a long time. I’m happy to see Immokalee preserving its history through the museum and events like this, which remind people how life used to be,” said Jumper.

But the cattle drive is just the beginning. From thrilling alligator wrestling and live music to local vendors serving up classic Florida flavors, the Immokalee Jamboree offers a vibrant tribute to the area’s ranching traditions.
