Man struck by lightning in Naples on August 31 dies.

On August 31, a man vacationing in Naples was struck by lightning and died from his injuries.

Adrián García (Adrián Chile García), who had been in serious condition at a Florida hospital (Naples Community Hospital) since the lightning strike on Aug. 31 at a Naples beach, died Saturday, according to an article by Mark H. Bickel of Naples Daily News.

Around 5:50 p.m. on August 31, Naples police officers responded to the Naples Pier, 25 12th Ave. S., in response to a medical issue on the beach, when at least nine people called dispatchers for assistance.

When they arrived, spectators cried out that lightning had struck numerous people close to the water.

According to the report, officers went to the water where witnesses were already giving CPR on García, a 24-year-old visitor from Hialeah, Florida..

Maikel Rojas Bencomo, a 43-year-old Miami man, suffered only minor wounds as a result of lightning.

According to the cubanheadlines.com website, the lightning strike caused severe brain damage, leaving García dependent on a ventilator.
