Naples Mayor Update for November Newsletter

December in Naples is usually filled with joy, celebration, great food, and shopping that is superior. We Neapolitans are mentally trying to recover from the devastation that personally affected our community, our environment, our properties, and our loved ones like no other challenge we have had to face before.

My hope is that each one of us is aware of the effects on our mental, physical, and spiritual health. Let us look towards hope. If we all look around our city, county, and region we will see resiliency, hope, and community.

As of today, I encourage and thank all for registering with FEMA and looking at options available after the damage caused by Hurricane Ian. Please look at all your options, but you must register. We have numerous challenges in our recovery such as FEMA cleanup, rules for recovery, beach openings, water quality, and rebuilding, all of which are our top concerns. Please do all you can to utilize the resources available and do not give up if you feel there are not options for you and your recovery. Please call and let us know the issues you face. (239.213.1000) We must be the eyes and ears for the community. Please share your concerns or observations so we can have an excellent recovery with better policies to support the learned issues.

With all the devastation, loss, and sadness that hit our community, our resiliency is key to hope. Let us come together to rebuild and keep the character of Naples Neapolitans. The City of Naples is hopeful for our future and grateful for all that we have.

On a brighter note, December 1, 2022 kicks off the centennial year for the City of Naples, leading us to the actual centennial day on December 1, 2023. The City Christmas parade, tree lightings, and many other festivities will continue, and we look forward to entering 2023 with hope.

God bless,

Mayor Teresa Lee Heitmann
