3D model of new Naples Pier

City Hall now has a 3D rendering of the Naples Pier, which might begin construction this summer.

At Wednesday’s city council meeting, the city manager presented a 20-foot model of a new Naples Pier and updated the council on its rebuilding.

Hurricane Ian devastated the pier over a year and a half ago. Director of Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Chad Merritt estimates 18 months for development without interruptions, according to a recent article by Gina Tomlinson of NBC2

“It’s in a very dense and narrow area, we don’t have much space to work with,” Merritt added. “We’ve tried to give contractors the option to work off large barges, which keeps a lot of construction equipment offshore.”

Naples Pier design designs show a tiny stretch of 12th Avenue South and one beach access restricted for staging. Downtown residents and businesses hope the city reduces traffic.

“I hope it goes smoothly for the people, and they have good weather so they can get it done as soon as possible and do it right,” Naples resident John Guilderson said.

Naples and the Collier Community Foundation formed the Naples Pier Fund to finish the historic pier. Donate here.

To fund the $23 million rebuild, the city is willing to borrow up to $13 million.
